Fort Eben-Emael is a place where history comes to live! The fort is really impressive.

Fort Eben-Emael, constructed between 1932 and 1935, was one of the largest fortifications in Europe and was thought to be impregnable. The spectacular and innovative attack on the fortress by an elite unit of German paratroopers on 10 May 1940 marked the tragic start of World War II for Western Europe. You will see history in its real and lively context rather than through museum glasses, especially destruction caused by the German attack.

Visit this immense underground complex with its restored barracks, the infirmary, the museum and experience the terrible explosion in the corridor system. Immerse yourself in the secret and innovative German plans for the attack on the fort. Follow the guide through the tunnel system to the command post and the gun room of an artillery bunker. Go on an underground walk to the Albert Canal. Amazing place where history was made. Beautiful scenery along the way, and worth visiting if you’re interested in history and the dynamics of what border cities used to be like during war-times.

Eben-Ezer Tower

On the top of the tower are four giant biblical animals, and the interior is full of Garcet’s biblical, archaeological, paleontological, and geological art.

The very name: “Eben-Ezer” was given to this hill by Robert GARCET. Eben-Ezer is Robert Garcet’s museum, each room is animated and brings to life the work of a lifetime, its discoveries: its writings, sculptures, discoveries, philosophies. The garden is a kind of sculpture/art park that you can visit in combination with the museum inside. You can only visit the floors up to the roof with a spiral staircase.
