Château de Vêves
Settled on its stony spur, it has dominated the valley of the village of Celles for more than 800 years. In the former kingdom of Pépin de Herstal in the VIIIth century, it was the castle of the Beaufort lords which was reconstructed in 1410 and then residence to their descendants. It has pertained to the same family since it was established in the Middle Ages. To this day this masterpiece has featured 5 spectacular towers as well as an unprecedented timbered gallery from the XVIth century. The rooms are festooned with XVIIIth century furniture of unique Chinese artwork, historical antiques and portraits that will influence the visitors by its influential atmosphere. It’s completely like visiting Sleeping Beauty’s castle which is a part of Wallonia’s outstanding heritage!

Saint-Hadelin Collegiate Church
Saint-Hadelin Collegiate Church is an outstanding heritage of Wallonia. It is one of the most glorious primitive Romanesque churches in the country. Additionally, it is listed as a major heritage site in Wallonie.
One can adore its impressive multitude, notably its shielding tower. Inside the building is whitewashed, with gorgeous 13th-century wooden choir stalls where the artillery used to recline. Two shrines are wooing from the 7th and 12th centuries, gravel tombs, of which those of the nobility of the area, the de Beauforts and the de Liedekerke-Beaufort, 13th-century baptismal prints and many wonderful sculptures of which those of Saint Hadelin who dwelled here in the 7th century. A follower of Saint Remarcle, he Christianised the region and created a monastery. The village became a significant pilgrimage location and the monks created this collegiate church in the 11th century and it has altered little since. The remembrance of the saint lives on in the village as it is celebrated yearly on the 3rd of February or on a Sunday that follows. It’s one of the most beautiful examples of Romanesque Mosan architecture.
Celles Presbytery
Celles Presbytery is an intriguing site in Celles. You will love visiting this exceptional heritage of Wallonia. The village presbytery is hunching above Rue Saint-Hadelin which dates from 1840. Relatively eliminated from other buildings, it extends an embankment to stand on the roadside. The nearby area is beautified with grasslands and other elements of nature that adds to the beauty of the landscape. The gorgeous building perched in this area is a true gem.
