Let’s meander through this sanctuary of a hundred directions and let’s contemplate the legend of the sun straddled atop the obelisk that never sets in the west. Initiated by Chemins Terrils and the Sentiers de Grande Randonnée, the Black Loop runs for 22 km between Sambre and Charleroi-Brussels Canal.

The Black Loop breaks free from the city’s territorial obstacles, flees alongside industrial castles, spins through a reinvented forest, invites itself into an English-style park, settles at the top of the slag heaps.

The tour includes climbing the four slag heaps connected by passages. The tour is signposted with slabs recovered from a wall from the 1980s. The triangular-shaped slabs evoke the shape of the slag heaps. The route takes the form of urban exploration by crossing the suburbs and differs from the usual tourist routes. A poetic-punk journey that questions the contrasts of a changing city and leaves no one indifferent.
