Totem Canadien
Totem Canadien is a volatile memory of a unique friendship. This totem was constructed near the old library of Virton, as a souvenir of the once Canadian Forces that in the late 1950s, was assigned near Virton. As part of the agreement with NATO, the air forces from across the Atlantic built strategic bases in Europe. In 1955, Virton did their promising greeting to hundreds of 1st wing Canadian airmen and their families, who were looking for shelters. The two communities functioned well concurrently, creating vital links and a genuine friendship was born.
When the time came for the Canadians to go back home, March 11, 1967, the town agreed to organise a party to show how venerated they were in Virton. The Canadians, in turn, prepared a gift: a substantial Indian totem, to prove how important their relationship was. The authentic artwork, which underwent from the passing years and weather, was resculpted by Claude Goffinet and inaugurated in 1992. It is a beautiful place and a loving memorial of the real friendship between the two countries at the high-risk time of War.

Golf Découverte Virton is a training centre devoted to learning, improving and training golf. It is situated in the Gaume region, close to the borders with France and Luxembourg. The Golf Discovery in Virton has a Golf school with lessons run by professional golfers. This youthful, vibrant and friendly club proposes a compact 6-hole course. It is therefore a substantial opportunity for beginners who want to learn golf as well as for experienced players who want to progress in their game. Several free introductions are offered during the year. Golf Découverte also offers a golf school aimed primarily at young people. Internships are offered to everyone, several times a year. They offer even one day courses for tourist golfers. If you are a golfer you will surely enjoy this place.
The Trans gaumaise
The Trans Gaumise is a wonderful trail through the Gaume region. So hikers put on your hiking shoes, comfy sports clothes and strolling sticks, That’s it, you’re ready for the Trans gaumaise, an incredible 140 km trail. You’ll be loving this trail. Walking from paths full of trees to encountering the enchanting monuments you will discover the real Europe in the streets of Belgium. You will go through Virton, Torgny, Montmédy and its citadel, Orval and its Cistercian abbey before returning to Virton. This trail can be cut into 7 segments:

Part 2: Torgny > Avioth (17.7 km)
Part 3: Avioth > Williers (28.2 km)
Part 4: Williers > Herbeumont (20.2 km)
Part 5: Herbeumont > Chiny (27 km)
Part 6 Chiny > Tintigny (27.1 km)
Part 7: Tintigny > Virton (21.6 km).

The Trou des Fées in Virton
The Trou des Fées in Virton is a magical location. It is between Etalle and Virton, more specifically in Croix-Rouge, that the place called “Trou des fée” (the Fairy hole) can be found.
