Alden Biesen Castle is a glorious moated castle in the heart of the Bilzen. Built 16th-century it’s located just an hour’s drive from Brussels. It offers a wonderful and remarkable setting for your next event. The Grand Commandery Alden Biesen is one of the oldest and largest castle domains in Northern Europe with a church, French Garden, and English garden. The Grand Commandery offers many benefits today. Visiting this castle is a sure worth. You can attain a cultural occasion and relish one of their storytelling events. It also offers lovely strolls through the sloping orchards and jumps back in time with their guided tour, enjoys a concert and celebrations here. Fort Eben-Emael is an outstanding fort. You see history in its real and lively context rather than through museum glasses. Erected between 1932 and 1935, it was one of the largest fortifications in Europe and was believed to be impregnable.

The highly destructive attack on the fortress by an elite unit of German paratroopers marked the tragic start of World War II for Western Europe from here. It’s a great piece of war art. You can take a step back in time and visit the restored barracks. You can do online booking be careful when you plan your trip here as it’s open for only one weekend in a week. The roof visit of the barren fort has great panoramic views to offer while cool breeze excitingly welcomes you. If you visit when the weather is favourable then you can also go to see the outside parts. There is a small restaurant nearby in the old mill when you can have a great lunch or dinner. This wonderful fort is the live monument tracing the events of world war 2.

Eben-Ezer Tower is a place offering a unique experience. It is a monument dedicated to Peace, erected in 1950. It is created of flint stones from quarries so it’s also known as the Museum of Flint. Looming towards the sky, four cherubim at the four cardinal points send their symbolic message to the world. The Eben-Ezer tower is the work of one man, Robert Garcet, with a vision on the world that differs from most of our views! Built by his own hands the tower with it’s 4 winged creatures is a fantastic milestone. The towers have always symbolized the link between men and the gods. The ground floor is way very fascinating with Robert Garcet lifetime works its writings, sculptures, discoveries and philosophies. The rest of the exhibition floors may grab your adequate interest. Even the view from the rooftop is competently well worth the excursion. And the tower has a very nice forest that is sprinkled with art installations throughout. Take your time to visit this incredible place.

Bilzen Mysteries has a brand new, unique attraction. It’s an enormous adventure here. You can have the full experience of ‘Bilzen Mysteries Het Verhaal’. The Complot is an intriguing, interactive treasure hunt for young and old, full of riddles and clues. Equipped with a tablet and a decent fraction of investigative skills, you gradually unfold the solution to the mystery.  And then, when night falls the Grand Commandery Alden Biesen becomes the stage for a nighttime, multimedia trail full of amazement. ‘Bilzen Mysteries The Story’ is a feast for the senses. The story is told from over 800 years and the graphic part of the story along with the light effects and the similarities are cleverly done. The technology is on point and the audio is also available in English, Dutch, French and German. You will have a full fun time here.

You really don’t have to go far to see beautiful nature! This national forest lies on the border of Kempen and Haspengouw and gives extraordinary scenic beauty in its woodland, blues and meadows. You can explore the corners of the forest while hiking through the forest. There is a swamp area with a plank walkway and a kind of desert area on top of a sprayed-on mountain, on your route ahead you will see an ancient cathedral standing in the middle of the pine and oak plantation. There are a  number of streams that flow through the forest having visible and pure water with some aboriginal fishes sneaking in them.  If you’re lucky you can encounter some wild animals such as reindeers and Beavers. You will have an outstanding chance for Birdwatching and Wildlife photography here. An elegant place for grown-ups and children.
