Bunker d’Hitler 1940
The top museum that educates you on Hitler’s presence in the area in 1940. For 22 days in 1940, the Nazi leader commanded Western Front operations from the forest here, 8km south of Couvin. The chalet where he lived has been transformed into a small exhibition hall, where a film describes the events that preceded and followed his sojourn here. The documentary & museum artefacts are displayed & documented very well, very interactive. Another pavilion exhibits pieces related to the Belgian Resistance. You can also peep in the tiny concrete bunker, which was never utilized.
It’s an amazing place to visit. All residents were forcibly evicted by the Nazis when Hitler came to town, and signposted panels describe the transformation of the village. You’ll need your wheels to reach the village. A very educational spot for children to acknowledge them about world war II.
