Les Draisines de la Molignée sa is a nice and fun experience. Easy to book and to start on the train tracks. Reservations possible 24 hours before. You can go all the way to Maredsous and visit the abbey. The draisines, or bicycles on rails, are amusing machines onboard which the newcomer discovers the landscape while moving on the railway track. You cycle at your own pace on the old railway line that runs along the picturesque valley of the Molignée, between Falaën and Maredsous, in the province of Namur. you depart in time slots so that everyone is going in the same direction along the track; you leave the bike, go up to the Maredsous abbey to enjoy some beers, and then return to the railway for one of the return time slots. In winter, make sure to dress extra warm or bring a blanket for the people who are not cycling, because it can get really cold. Even the dogs are allowed. It’s downhill on the way back so pedaling is not required! Really fun & unique experience.

Airspace Indoor Skydiving

Great sensation in the flying chamber!

Airspace Indoor Skydiving is a wonderful ISG wind tunnel located in Fleurus, Belgium just across the road from the Brussels South Charleroi Airport. The tunnel features a 14 foot  – 4.3-meter flying chamber located in the centre of a large, beautiful two-level room. The adrenaline rush when the wind blows at 250 km/h, and it’s not easy to stay level, but the monitor does a great job and they will help you a lot! In the end, the wind speed is increasing to 300 km/h and he’s taking you for a ‘fly high’ to the top of the flying chamber. Everything was well organised and safe and professional in every detail.

AirSpace is likely to be one of the best tunnels in Europe and everything from the facilities, to the management, to the instructors is top-notch.

Abbey Soleilmont

Soleilmont Abbey is an abbey of Trappist nuns located in the municipality of Fleurus, in Gilly, Belgium. This place steeped in history is located at the gates of Charleroi, in a natural setting. It was founded in 1237 and during the French Revolution, in 1796, the nuns were expelled. However, they re-established themselves in 1802. Today the abbey has about thirty nuns who are dedicated to the management of the farm and the bakery. They produce wafers and bread, but also liturgical clothes and some artistic objects. Only the farm of the old abbey is open to the public. You will also find a tavern that I did not have the chance to try but which has a beautiful terrace overlooking the farmyard. A wing has been set up for festive events and another for exhibitions. In Soleilmont they have selected the best products made or processed in this abbey, such as Kerala Black Tea, cashews, and many other spices such as ginger, turmeric, and pepper. This place deserves to be better known!

Battle of Fleurus

Battle of Fleurus, the most significant battle in the First Coalition phase of the French Revolutionary Wars. The Battle of Fleurus, fought on 1 July 1690, was a major engagement of the Nine Years War.

In a bold envelopment the Duc de Luxembourg, commanding Louis XIV of France’s army of some 35.000 men, soundly defeated Prince Waldeck’s Allied force of approximately 38.000 men comprising mainly Dutch, German, and Spanish troops. Waldeck suffered heavy losses in prisoners and equipment, and Luxembourg moved ahead to control Flanders. The larger French force was able to endure the casualties and counterattack. Coburg retreated across the Meuse the next day with only half as many losses as the victorious French. Nevertheless, within a month, the Austrians abandoned the southern Netherlands, which was annexed by France. You can’t leave this place. It has a lot of tales to tell from the past.

Centre Général Gérard Ligny

The “General Gérard” room bears the name of the Commander-in-Chief of the French 4th Army Corps. Great little tourist train that brought us to relive the battle of Ligny. Emblematic figure and hero of the battle of Ligny. In 1832, then become Marshal, he liberated Belgium from the Dutch forces. Guides here are too efficient and explain the battle to you in every detail. A battlefield is a historical event that truly bears the image of the “Ligny 1815 Museum”. By means of animations of historical and living reconstructions, we wish to make you discover this slice of the history of the village. A highly recommended place.

Artemis

Super impeccable nothing to say except that it is a good thing to spend a great time with the families. This restaurant deserves much more publicity. You will be greeted with great sympathy, by a welcoming staff concerned with the safety of all. It would have been a long time since you have eaten “Greek” style. Being in origins, here we bring importance to the suggested dishes and especially to the way they are cooked. Artemis currently offers a “mezze” table. You choose the dishes that will make it up and enjoy it all in good company. Which brings an atmosphere that only Mediterranean people know.

So come and try this way of sharing a typical, delicious and above all homemade meal with fresh and quality products. Something delicious awaits you.
