Hello Spring

Are you visiting Belgium in Spring? Want to witness the most stunning flower display of the world? So all thumbs up for a beautiful and flowery month! The first blossoms of spring are a thing of beauty around the world. Sometimes all we need is a relaxing weekend break, to enjoy the spring flowers and the glorious sunshine, but not all of us can go to the French Provincie every weekend.

Thanks to the beautiful flower fields right here in Belgium that are free to visit! It’s a Belgian nature display made to conquer a place on the nature enthusiast’s bucket list. There are a lot of beautiful places to see Spring in Belgium and if you’re into photography you’ll love these hidden gems in Belgium!

So in this guide, we will tell you exactly where you can find amazing flower fields and why they are here in the first place:

Hallerbos

Every spring without fail Hellerbos forest turns purple attracting millions of tourists to admire the spectacular scenery of nature. Standing in this sea of vibrant blue a mere 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) south of Brussels, breathing in its intense colours and sweet floral fragrances, the senses are tickled far beyond what our daily lives and office jobs tend to inspire.

They bloom around the mid of April and the beginning of May. The exact time of flowering of Blue Bells may be different from year to year but the best time to visit Hallerbos is the second mid of April. The purple-blue of the bluebells combined with the transparent bright green of the young beech leaves gives a magical effect to the forest. The sunlight still reaches the flowers through the leaf canopy, but a little less each day.”

Two bluebell walking paths take travellers to see the scenery, maps of which can be found here. The professional photoshoot requires special permission. However, you can click as many selfies as you like.

Japanese Garden

You just have to buy the tickets online to visit it .Click the link above .

In Japan, garden-making is considered high art. The Japanese garden of Hasselt was created with the support of Itami city of japan. the place par excellence to fully experience Japanese culture. The garden opens its doors on April 1st and as a visitor, you can enjoy the cherry trees in their budding bloom. Of course, we never know in advance how far and even if they will be open. It all depends on the weather.

Those looking for peace can find a bench here to listen to the waterfalls, view the koi fish and feed them, have a picnic, or walk around quietly and enjoy the changing view. Sometimes you can also hear the peace bell ring. Since 2016, the peace bell has had a permanent place in the garden. It is an ideal place to walk around and enjoy the ever-changing views or just to sit down somewhere and listen to the calming noise of flowing water.

Meise Botanic Garden

The National Botanic Garden of Belgium is one of Europe’s largest botanic gardens. Located on the grounds of Bouchout Castle in the town of Meise. It’s just 3 km from the famous Atomium and is within easy reach of Brussels. You will discover a paradise for nature and plant lovers.

Walkers and their families will enjoy this quiet haven strolling amongst century-old trees, just some of the 18,000 plant species that grow in the garden. Discover plants from tropical regions in the Plant Palace, a complex of interconnecting glasshouses covering 1 ha and providing visitors with a wealth of fascinating plants from around the world. During the spring you can enjoy the magnolia, cherry blossoms and other flowers in the park.

Groot-Bijgaarden Castle

Floralia Brussels is one of the most popular flower trips in Belgium. Located 9 km from the Grand-Place of Brussels, in a green environment, the castle would be pleased to welcome you. Each year the Spring Flower Show attracts more than 35 000 visitors. Everyone can enjoy the flower beauty in the 14 ha park, greenhouse, Donjon and chapel of the castle of Groot-Bijgaarden.

For the new flowering time, the gardeners of the castle have planted by hand more than one million bulbs.  Special attention goes to the tulips, with almost 400 varieties, hyacinths and daffodils are also well represented. It’s a wonderful place to experience spring in full bloom. Worth the price if you love seeing lovely flowers. There’s a cafeteria and places for eating outside. There’s also a playground for the little ones. Highly recommended!

Lavender Field

There is a small field of lavender hidden in Limburg is an expanse of green fields punctuated by neat red-brick towns, is waiting to be discovered. If you have only experienced lavender in soaps or sachets, the scent may not seem exciting or camphorous. The camphorous and green leafy notes are noticeable too, but their sharpness only enhances the languid richness of fragrance in the air.

Lavender in full bloom is a different story. Even before you see the pale violet fields, you can smell a warm floral aroma with the sweetness of hay and toasted almonds. With the fullest blooms occurring from early June to September. It’s all serenity, stone church spires, and the soft rustle of leaves in the trees lining the river. There is a cafeteria where you can have a delicious coffee with aromatic lavenders.

Tulips Field in Meerdonk
