Small village, great allot !
Torgny, widely known as the most beautiful village in the entire Belgium.The village enjoys a micro climate, so it is well suited for vineyards. It is warmed by the sun and the golden hues of the stone facades, crowned by roofs of orange Roman tiles.

LOCATION: In the southernmost tip of Belgium lies Torgny. It is in the Gaume region in the province of Luxemburg, south of the Ardennes and surrounded by France on three sides. This beautiful village has influenced tourism widely.
While scrolling down about in the village, the presence in listed buildings, small chapels and musee. Be sure to walk to the upper part of the village, towards the hermitage and the nature reserve set in the old quarries.
Orval Abbey is a very impressive abbey with golden history and a very popular brewery on site. It is a Cistercian monastery founded in 1132 in the Gaume region of Belgium and is located in Villers-devant-Orval, part of Florenville in the province of Luxembourg.
The abbey is well known for its history and spiritual life. Abbey also have its own local production of the Trappist beer Orval and a specific cheese.The monks started the brewery to help fund the maintenance & renovations of the abbey. Very worthwhile stop.
Fort de Fermont is a must-visit-place. It is a
the undefeated fortress built from 1930 to 1940, Fermont Fort is located 7 kilometres from Longuyon in Meurthe-et-Moselle.
The fort and its new museum are the big work & the reference site for the Maginot Line. The 2-hour tour takes the visitor to see its seven combat blocks connected by underground tunnels, and its equipment and weapons. After the ammunition store, you board a small electric train to discover an artillery bunker 30 metres underground.
It is a good guided tour, which is sometimes in English or German.The highlight is of course the train-ride in the tunnels which everybody has played half a life will love it even more.There is also a ride with original elevators,visits to gun-positions and a lot of other things to see.The landscape is also very nice.
So sad this town and citadelle looks like an abandoned filmset. Montmédy citadel is one of the largest fortresses in North-Eastern France. It was built during the reign of Emperor Charles V in 1545 then altered in the 17th century by Vauban.Head across the two drawbridges and through the tunnel and you’ll find yourself in the centre of the citadel, a place for contemplation and dreams of days gone by. Every street and pathway is steeped in history and emotion.
It is an interesting fortified town, quite original and with a good self-guided walk around the ramparts. Parts of town are derelict, which is quite interesting to look at, but very few facilities. Free motorhome aire a nice spot. It’s a great site with interesting history but with neglected maintenance.

Wonders of this museum! This unique museum in the Province of Luxembourg, exhibits archeology, art, civil and religious ethnography, industrial and popular arts, folklore and legends, regional furniture and traditions as many approaches to this charming region that is the Gaume.
Children find their account as much as adults. The guides know how to put themselves at the height of children’s understanding to explain sometimes complex concepts.Especially the part concerning the Gallo-Roman remains. Everything else is interesting and deserves attention if the topic interests us.
- Sentier des Songes
The Sentier des Songes in Virton: “Between woodruff and logs”. Imagine a quiet forest with hills covered with anemones, a source at a place called “the waterfall” from which escapes crystal clear water. A succession of small ponds with bluish and emerald green reflections and a small hut marked with a large Z indicate the mysterious place. We are in the Rabais valley, at the famous hideout of the Zigomars. The works of the Sentier des Songes find refuge and serenity.
Do you want to taste a drink made with woodruff and apple wine?It is possible on May 1 at the Zigomars Festival and every Sunday afternoon at the lair.Nice quiet walk near the lakes with different wooden sculptures.
- Trou des Fées
Trou des Fées is a nice little corner of Gaumaise forest filled with magic and legends. It is between Etalle and Virton that the place called “Trou des fée” which means “the Fairy hole” can be explored.This natural cave, made of sandstone and home to fairies, is part of the unusual rock formations in Gaume. The rocky overhang, eroded and drilled by many cavities hides galleries, some 15-m long, dating back to when the sea filled the Paris basin. It’s considered to be one of the favorite places for children who can spend hours in the caves. These exceptional caves feature in many legends linkeds to D’jean dMady but also to the Gaume fairies. This is magical place, surrounded with beautiful woods, memories of childhood & for lovers of nature and fairy tales.
