La Ramée Abbey
The Abbey of La Ramée is an unforgettable place. It is tracked down in the center of Belgium, in Brabant-Wallon, near the Dutch-speaking region. It is located in a beautiful landscape. Its origin dates back to the 18th century. Here one of the streams of Hesbignon plateau weaves its way through its folds creating beautiful waterfalls.
The succulent lands with good yields and the wooded areas ensured the nuns that the territories assigned to them could meet their needs. It is factual that the abbey of La Ramée is outstanding in Brabant, appraised and replenished with appreciation and admiration. It’s equally for its aspect, for its location, and all other recommendable things. On a spiritual level, La Ramée participated in the golden age of Cistercian mysticism in Brabant in the 18th century.
Over time, the young abbey constituted an area comprising land, woods and tithes in many surrounding villages. Now it has become one of the peaceful and admired heritage of Wallonia. A site to be visited.
Hesserée farm
Located in the heart of Walloon Brabant, the Ferme de la Hesserée fascinates you with a serenity and peaceful universe, far from anxiety and everyday dullness. The Hesserée far originally laid the first stone in the 13th century, providing your exhibitions with an unusual atmosphere. The terrace constitutes, with the depository, an architectural element emblematic of the considerable survey of the Brabant Hesbaye.
The slender and sober central building is made up of seven spans of single-level windows, and fences the entrance door. Renovated in 1797, this building manifests, by its treatment. This beautiful place is perfect for your picnic and family time. Here you can calm yourself and enjoy the cool breeze and admire the site that marks the southern entrance to the village of Mélin.
Fortemps Farm
In the heart of the village, this assessing farmhouse disperses its numerous volumes around an approximately square courtyard. The entrance veranda is prepared with a basket-handle doorway and a domed with a lintel window controls the access.
The facade was redesigned in the 19th century that skilfully combined a color with the other colors, shifting from the orange-red of the brick and the tiles of the saddlebag to the beige of the Gobertange stone. The composition of the facade promotes distinct architectural components such as the bases, bands, corner chains, and bowling holes. These holes were used to entrench boudins, wooden pieces planned to assist the floor of a scaffolding.
The ancient architecture shows the rich past and tradition of the village. A perfect place to spend your peaceful time. You should surely admire the spot if you are in the village of Wallonia.
Cense of the Lord
Travelling back to the medieval era. Cense of the Lord of the lord is an outstanding building that you will find in a beautiful landscape. Dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, this enormous U-shaped farmhouse organizes together all the accommodations and outbuildings around a paved quadrangle, embroidered with greenery.
The entrance terrace is shaped with a basket handle lintel but this former quadrilateral relinquished its western wing following numerous fires. In front of the house, extended outbuildings formulate at right angles under a ceiling of orange tiles. A protruding domed drip boundary protects the door to the street from rainwater runoff.
The immediate surroundings of the ancient Cense, improved by carefully landscaped terraces. A place that is excellent for the day out. You can relish the landscape with the cool breeze and quality time to spend.
