Abbatiale Romane Of Hastière And Its Museum

Abbatiale Romane Of Hastière, this abbey tracked down along the Meuse is full of charisma. Built-in 1033 by the Irish monks, Its enormous and imposing Romanesque tower, its thoughtful architecture, its lovely square pillars are just beyond your imagination. An abbey with a  gorgeous shrine and sculpture. In the tower of the Abbey: archaeological things from prehistory to Gallo-Roman are secured. Sainte Colombe Church

Sainte Colombe Church is located at the top of the village. It is rimmed with chestnuts and enclosed by an ancient walled cemetery, has charisma. Initially it was Romanesque and dates from the 11th century. The base of the naves and the choir are 13th century Gothic. Since then there have been various changes. Thus the outlet of the tower is Neo-Classic. In the southern hallway there is an altar devoted to the patron saint of the parish, Colombe, virgin martyr and roman baptismal font. The grimy glass window that brightens the altar of the virgin is strangely festoon with a grey haired angel escorted by two other angels with brown hair. The assumption is that these represent the donors of the window, a father and two sons. It is a beautiful and divine place. Which is worth a visit.

Ferme des Moines

At the corner of rue Désiré Mathieu and rue des Granges, sits an old huge ranch presently recognized under the name of “Ferme des Moines” or “Sins dè Mwènes” in the local dialect. The several buildings of this 18th-century farmhouse once lived on two sides of an enormous tilting user; only a sort of small house remains today. The building can be dated thanks to its gable pierced with a mullion window, bound uprights, and small rectangular bay with two harps piers. Its openings were radically altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. According to local tradition, it belonged to the monks of the abbey of Florennes. It is a place of traditional vibe which one should surely visit.

Old Soulme mill

The admirably refurbished Hamoir mill, the oldest of Soulme’s three mills, seizes a peaceful location along the Hermeton.  Old Soulme mill is a restored mill, dates from the 15th century and was furnished in its current state in the 17th century. Today it holds a beautiful place in the ancient  treasures. The dam, the reach, the gates and the machinery are still in place. It creates an atmosphere grabbing back to the time of this glorious mill. If you’re in Soulme you should surely visit this place.
