World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day is celebrated each year on September 27 to spread awareness about the significance of tourism and its influence on our society. Since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day with worldwide ceremonies on September 27. The day is also celebrated to stretch awareness about global challenges delineated for Sustainable Development and to accentuate the endeavors the tourism industry can make obtaining the sustainable development missions. It also spreads awareness about how to demonstrate its effects on social, cultural, political, and economic values worldwide. This date was selected as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were approved. The adoption of these Statutes is evaluated as a milestone in global tourism. The UNWTO General Assembly, in October 1997 in Turkey, agreed on designating a host country each year to act as the Organization’s partner in the celebration of World Tourism Day.

The theme of World Tourism Day 2021

Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ is the theme for World Tourism Day 2021. This year’s authorized celebration will be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire, applauding tourism’s potential to drive inclusive development and the role it plays in nurturing respect while producing opportunities for many millions across the world.
