Ethic + Aesthetic = Sustainable Fashion

by Lajja

One certain thing in the fashion world is change. We are constantly being bombarded with new fashion ideas from music, videos, books, and television. The problems of the wardrobe has been increased highly during these days so even the fashion industry is thinking about ‘sustainable fashion’

What is sustainable fashion?

You love fashion but you also love the environment—and yes, you can have both. Sustainable fashion is a generic term used to describe all activities designed to shift the existing fashion industry from its unethical, wasteful, and inconsiderate approach towards an industry, based on equality, social justice, animal welfare, and ecological integrity.

Terms such as ethical fashion, fair trade fashion, eco-friendly fashion, and so on.These terms are describing different aspects of sustainable fashion activities. For example,

  •  Ethical fashion and fair trade fashion focus on the welfare of people working in fashion.
  • ‘Vegan-fashion’ term is, in general, used to describe fashion. products manufactured without the use of materials of animal origin.
  • ‘Cruelty-free fashion’, used to describe products that contain animal-based materials but obtained without any cruel means.
  • ‘Eco-friendly’, ‘eco-conscious’, and ‘green fashion’ are popular terms used to describe the environment-related facets of sustainable fashion.

Though,  sustainable fashion can be much more than we can express.

What is the future of sustainable fashion?

There are amazing people coming up with new ways to improve the fashion industry every year whether it’s through technology or powerful movements. We hope these ideas ignite some optimism as well as action because a sustainable fashion industry is possible!

Even many upcoming industries are now taking the grave steps for the accomplishment of the sustainable fashion some of these are:

  • Levi’s
  • Alternative Apparel
  • PACT
  • Everlane
  • thredUP
  • H&M Conscious

Many fashion brands are working hard for the development of “sustainable fashion” and to slow down the process of “fast fashion”.

Hence by promoting these brands  we all together can contribute in the development of the eco friendly sustainable fashion and stop the fast fashion industries which are creating a fuss in the environment.
