Government Amplifying Domestic Tourism

by Lajja

Before whizzing the earth, let’s explore our home first!

The Belgian government announces the foresighted measures to boost  domestic tourism in the country. As the circumstances and the precautionary measures for the novel coronavirus had distance all humans around the globe and refrain the travellers from travelling.

After the complete hibernation of three months the Belgian government has decided to provide the following measures:

  • Free 12 rail passes to encourage domestic tourism

The pass will be given only to those who request it, with an online application. Measures will be taken for those with no access to internet. The tickets will be in the name of the person applying.

The passes will be valid between 5th October to 31st March and can be used anywhere in Belgium. Also, Belgians will be able to take their bikes on the train for free. The major cities of Ghent, Bruges, and Antwerp are all accessible by train, as well as the forested hills of the Ardennes region. The system will come into action when a partner has been found to create and administer the online application process, as well as the distribution of the tickets by mail.

  • Parental leave and tax-deductible voucher

Government decided to provide parental leave and a €300 (US$337) tax-deductible voucher that workers can receive from their employers to use in restaurants, museums, theatres and other hard-hit sectors.

  • Safety measures:

The government has also taken precautionary measures to stop the spread of COVID-19. Cafes, restaurants, and bars, with the requirement that tables must be kept 1.5 meters apart.

The world is beautiful and Belgium is a great example of it!
