Villa Gallo-Romaine de Mageroy
In a corner of Gaume at the gates of the Ardennes, discover an archaeological site like no other, the Gallo-Roman villa of Mageroy. Mageroy is a site of major importance for Gallo-Roman archaeology in Belgium. Ruins of an old village. Habay Archeology Group has been working since 1984 to excavate, study, enhance and present the site of the Gallo-Roman Villa of Mageroy. A master of heritage and archaeology, teachers, pupils and tourists shows their major interest here. However, to feel those times and imagine those houses, people and their lives need some words, tips that stimulate the imagination.
All the exhibitions are part of the numerous and inter-discoveries which are made in summers and which continue to be so. A well presented and documented archaeological site which is extremely well maintained. Do not hesitate to visit the site of the Gallo-Roman Villa of Mageroy and to discover its treasures!
Communal park of the châtelet
Communal park of the châtelet is a municipal park located on the side of the lake, it’s a spectacular property. Particularly worth the detour for its green spaces, its large pond, its castle which houses the Town Hall but also for its recreational and sports facilities which allow walkers to practice many other activities. Profound into the Ardennes, between Martelange and Habay-la-Neuve in the region of Luxemburg, is the huge 7000-hectare Anlier Forest, one of the biggest forests in Belgium. The forest is so enormous that parts of it are approximately unexplored. Living in its deeper nooks are deer, wild boar, badgers, foxes and wildcats. Visit the area in the summer and look for rare breeding birds such as great grey shrikes, red-backed shrikes, and the speciality of the region are black storks. You will enjoy many hours walking along the banks of the river. The whole area has a good touristic network and can be explored by bike or on foot. A good starting point is the tourist office on the Grand Place in Neufchâteau. You can marvel at the diversity of plant and animal life in the area. Spend a truly good time with nature here.

Habay is an amazing place. Along with all the fascinating things here the major tourist interest is horse riding. You can discover this marvellous place on the back of the horse which gives you a complete feeling of travelling back in time. Many equestrian courses are accessible in the Anlier forest.
