Quinoa is a whole grain. The popularity of quinoa is growing rapidly in today’s world. It is a plant-based source of Protein. I am sharing here certain benefits of quinoa if you consume it regularly.

In today’s world where people are converting themselves into Vegetarian or Vegan , quinoa is getting popular day by day.
Today I am sharing one of the quinoa recipes. It is healthy and filling and quick too . As you all know it is Quinoa Upma .
Ingredients for Quinoa Upma
- Quinoa – 1 cup (approximately )
- Water – 2 cups (I always take double of the main ingredient in
upma ) - ginger
- Onions
- Vegetables – Small Chopped
carrots , peas,Tomato - Green
chilli – chopped - Salt to taste
- Coriander
- Ghee for Tampering
- Mustard Seeds
- 2 or 3 Curry leaves
- Urad dal (I love it in the Upma )
Preparations :
1 . Quinoa needs to be washed very well . Just like Sago (Sabudana) . Wash it for 3 to 4 times . Normally I wash it in a deep pot for and remove the water . I repeat this process for 3 to 4 times .
2.After that I put it in a strainer and wash it under a running water by rubbing it properly .
3.Remove the Water and put the strainer on the side and allow the water to flow .
How to Cook Quinoa upma
1. Take a pan. Heat ghee in it. Add Mustard seeds. Allow it to splutter +Urad dal, allow it to turn golden. Add curry leaves +green chilies +ginger – cook for a minute
2. Add Onions and allow it to turn golden too .
3. Add the vegetables (carrots and peas – half boiled ). Mix everything well and cook for a minute, until the veggies are cooked.
4. Add quinoa in it (drained )
5. Add the water and salt along .
6. Mix well and taste it to check if you need something to add in it .
7. Allow it cook on a medium flame or a slow flame untill all the water gets absorbed .
8. If the quinoa is cooked properly it will start looking transparent .
Now its ready to serve .Sprinkle coriander over it or you can also add coriander in the water while follopwing the step 5th.
9. Serve it with Coriander Chutney and also sprinkle some lemon juice over it .
