  • Slope of Goats

The Heid des Gates nature reserve is a magnificent reserve where you go for a walk, never come back. The name Slope of Goats certainly specifies a fantastically scenic route in a well-kempt area which is of around sixty hectares. It is its outstanding flora which generates the worldwide prestige of this gorgeous cliff. Most of the fascinating plant federations have inhabited the quarries. A tremendous diversity of amphibians reproduces in the ponds at the foot of the wall. A conserved sub-vertical rock face affects the right bank of the Amblève between Remouchamps and Aywaille. That’s about the long and short of it. It’s a great place with kids and friends. Do not hesitate to take your little bag with drinks and snacks, there is not a shop unless you go down to Aywaille. It’s a beautiful piece of nature, including the rocks. Recommended!

  • Côte de La Redoute

As the latest in the sequel to sift the famous roads of cycling, here is the Côte de La Redoute. It is for you if you like steep hills you have a good place. It is a climb,  La Redoute’s name means “redoubtable.” It has long been conclusive in the Liège–Bastogne cycle route. Its incline is 1.6 km long. The climb starts in the village of Sougné-Remouchamps next to the Amblève river. The climb’s notoriety ensures the tourists are guided by road signs to the start of the climb and the road picks its way out of the village. There are three parts to the climb. First, it leaves the village and passes by neat gardens and walls. Second, the road passes underneath the N662 Expressway and then bends right to ride parallel to the main road. Third, the roads bend to the left to leave the busy highway behind and climb up to the top where you turn left to complete the climb, passing a small memorial that marks the top. You realize once inside that cyclists are real athletes.

Wild World Safari Park is a hidden gem on the Aywaille is a great day trip for the whole family. You can drive through the park by safari train or with your park. Visit it in the morning, when the animals are most active. After you’ve done the safari tour, you can do the smaller zoo on foot and visit several animal shows. Kids will have a field day.

The visit to the park is divided into two parts. First, you can drive through the park by car, where hippos, watusi cattle, giraffes, zebras,  wildebeests, ostriches, and many others roam freely. White rhinos and African elephants can also be admired here. After the car is parked one can enter the park for the second part. There is an aviary with exotic birds and shows with parrots, Patagonian sea lions and birds of prey. There are also bears, white wolves, American bison and felines including cheetahs, lions, panthers, tigers and cougars. The park has a total of 152 different animal species. The place is a time well spent.

Hôtel Bonhomme is a nostalgically old-fashioned post hotel date from 1768 and has been in the same family for eight generations. Attractively shaded by trees and a picturesque iron-and-glass canopy. This place includes the real authenticity of the middle age. If you wish to enjoy your tour to Belgium at fullest then this hotel is worth a short. Its restaurant terrace is a delight and serves superb lunch salads, croquettes, trout and seafood dishes along with semi-gourmet dinner menus at fair prices. This place is worth a visit.
