De Zonnegloed Animal Sanctuary

De Zonnegloed Animal Sanctuary is a  safe warm home for rescued animals. They currently care for over 400 animals / 135 species. The Zonnegloed vzw is a refuge where indigenous and exotic conservation/breeding to permanent residence. In addition, they work with the zoo community to accommodate animals that are the functioning of species conservation/breeding programs. A lovely zoo.

You can tell they make an effort to keep the place clean and tidy. The animals are well taken care of and The animals have plenty of space to move around and seem well taken care of. It’s great that the Zonnegloed takes care of abandoned or maltreated animals. The full tour takes around 4 hours. A place worth a visit. You and your family will surely love spending time with these unusual animals.

Leperlee

Riverbanks are considered to be the best place to find peace and relax from the daily anxieties of our busy life. Belgium being a reverential country has several rivers, offering incredible scenic beauty. The Leperlee is a canalized river that rises in Heuvelland in the Belgian province of West Flanders and flows via the city of Ieper into the Yser at Fort Knokke. The river is 17 kilometers long.

Its name is derived from iep, the Dutch word for elm. It gave its name to the city of Ieper. You can sit and enjoy the sound and picture of the flowing river. There are several restaurants with delicious delicacies for you to offer. You can completely relish the beautiful place. To find peace in your life.

Dozinghem Military Cemetery

Dozinghem Military Cemetery is a beautiful memorial. The cemetery is located to the north-west of Poperinge near Krombeke. The cemetery is for the brave soldiers of World War l and World war ll. The final resting place of three Bessbrook men. There are now 3,174 Commonwealth burials of the First World War in the cemetery and 65 German war graves from this period.

The cemetery also contains 73 Second World War burials dating from the Allied withdrawal to Dunkirk in May 1940. The cemetery was designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield. Very quietly situated cemetery of soldiers of the First World War. Also neatly cared for. In the middle of the forest and again with open fields. This peaceful place always reminds you about the sacrifices and the bloodshed of the brave soldiers who lost their lives for saving their Nations in the world war. Highly recommended!

Saint-Sixtus Abbey

‘Westy 12’ is considered the best beer in the world, its rarity comes from the very limited production by the monks of the Order of Trappists of the Abbey of St. Sixto in the interior of Belgium. The Trappist Westvleteren is brewed by the monks of the Sint-Sixtus abbey. Five natural ingredients are used to brew three Trappist beers: Blond, 8 and 12. They each have their own colour, taste and aroma. All beers are unfiltered and not pasteurised, with secondary fermentation in the bottle. All this contributes to the taste and aroma.

Abbey is well worth it if you have the persistence. You are not allowed to go inside the abbey so interested parties can go to ‘Het Claustrum’, an information room in the meeting center ‘In de Vrede’ , right opposite the abbey. Here the monks offer you an insight into their monastic life. One of the finest places in Belgium worth a visit.

Parish Church of St. Amatus

Parish Church of St. Amatus is located to the east of Oostvleterendorp and west of the Martin Vandewynckelstraat, in the middle of a surrounding cemetery with military cemetery, partly trimmed with beech hedge, partly by means of a cast iron draft between round, brick pilasters with a spherical top piece. Late Gothic hall church (15th century) with crossing tower, based on a Romanesque place of worship.

An abbey has the beautiful interior with amazing glass work and Ivory worth the architecture is a true design of the 14th and 15th century. This abbey is the most elegant abbey of Belgium. It would be a great loss if you don’t visit this elegant place.  Highly recommended!

De Struise Brouwers

Belgium is incomplete without the Exotic Belgian beer. De Struise Brouwers gives the best taste of Belgium. Located in a former schoolhouse, the brewery is open on Saturdays for tasting. Amust-go-too stops for anyone that even remotely likes craft beer. They have a huge selection of beers to taste, almost 30 on tap. Most of them are heavy beers, with 10% or more abv. There is an option to taste the beer in sample size, about 100ml, so you can taste more beers without getting hammered.

They have both indoor and outdoor sitting areas. If you like beer very much, you can buy bottles from their gift shop. Some beers are quite pricey, but if you are into such beers, it could be worth the price. Every time visiting this astonishing place they treat you like family. It’s an amazing beer in an exotic environment. Get the stunning taste of the delicious beer, the best Belgium beer that you have never tasted with an amazing and mouth-watering taste. If you always know Belgium is incomplete without the Belgian beer.
