De Haan is a beach resort on the Belgian sea coast in West Flanders.
The most beautiful coastal town in Belgium is only 16 km from Bruges and 7 km from Ostende. Its most famous visitor, Albert Einstein lived here for several months. Thanks to a clever and strict real estate policy, De Haan has kept the charm of the 1930s, with a lot of white villas, It is forbidden to build buildings higher than 5 floors here. On the outskirts of town are expansive sand dunes crossed by paths.

- Strand De Haan
Strand De Haan is a major reason to visit De Haan. An awesome beach along with a beautiful promenade. Where the sand goes on for miles and the sea goes out really far. The beach is pretty wide, and you can sometimes swim in the sea. Check the signs to see if you can swim in the sea. Lifeguards are on constant patrol so you don’t need to worry much. Old buildings dominate here and form a beautiful beach backdrop.

- Statue Albert Einstein
The world-famous German physicist Albert Einstein has been here for six months. After he had received the Nobel Prize in 1921. A beautiful life-sized sculpture by Johnny Werkbrouck was unveiled on a beautiful square between the Norman Avenue and the Princess Astridlaan. This turns out to be a good attraction for the tourists, and the image itself is very nicely made of this physicist working in nature on a bench. Just next door is the building of the former restaurant “Coeur Volante,” where he met a few celebrities during his stay in De Haan in 1933. That time he lived in the nearby villa Savoyarde where a memorial can be seen on the façade and his portrait on the window on the first floor. - Serpentarium Blankenberge
The serpantarium is a worthy visit for all the animal lovers. It’s one of the best reptile zoo in Belgium. The entire space is designed is such a way you actually feel like you are walking inside a mountainous rainforest which is really breathtaking. There were so many species of reptiles that you can discovere, the terrariums are set up with care, the reptiles and other fauna are interesting and clearly well-taken care of. The poison dart frogs are indeed spectacular, as are the plethora of snakes and lizards. if you have a good luck you will get a chance to take the corn snake in your hands. Huisje van Majutte is an unusual fishing house museum. The longer you are there, the more you discover. It’s a small original museum of the oldest fisherman in Belgium. The historical building with lots of interesting artifacts. A written guide of the house in available in many languages. An incredibly pleasant man will tell you about the history of the house, the house itself shows the best tales. It is also very nice to see a small house in the street comparing it to what is around. It is also has a restaurant. While eating, the owner will tell you a story about fishers and also show photos. Even buy a fridge magnet to support this wonderful place. This magical place is highly recommended.
Here is a good excuse to take a walk along the beach, following the coast to the right from de Haan, in the direction of Blankenberge. Wenduine Spioenkop – the red-roofed pavilion is located on the second-highest dune on the Belgian coast, which is about 31 meters high. It was used as an outlook post by Napoleon and later by the nazis. The Rotunda with screen offers you a lovely view over the North sea when the weather is clear one can see Ostend and even the ancient Unesco heritage towers of Bruges. A sacred place for the many sun lovers, walkers, anglers, families with children.
- Coast – Belgian Beer
The blond version Coast 8410 Blond is managed to get a lot of ‘fraîcheur’ in the beer.
