What is Oleo Saccharum ?

It is a flavorful syrup that is made from Citrus Peels. The peels are kept in sugar for some hours to extract oils out of them. it results in a sweet and concentrated fruity syrup which is widely used for cocktails.

It is very easy to make .

This process is centuries old .

How to Make Oleo saccharum ?

  1. Wash the fruits – citrus (orange or lemon )whatever you are going to use for the syrup.
  2. Peel lemon in a big bowl with the help of Peeler. Try you don’t include the white part underneath the skin. As we all know it is bitter.
  3. Add sugar into it. Mix it well and cover it fully with sugar.
  4. Keep it aside for a minimum of 8 hours. Let is rest.
  5. After 8 hours you will the see the syrup being extracted.
  1. Strain the liquid in the bowl and then store it in a clean bottle.

The oleo Saccharum is ready to use in different cocktails. 

Serve it with Orange juice 

  1. Take a glass put some ice cubes.
  2. Add oleo Saccharum and then pour the juice in it.
  3. You can add a little bit of honey too if you want.
