Thandai Powder and Thandai

Holi is around the corner. Well, who doesn’t want to drink thandai on holi? Here I am sharing a very simple recipe for thandai powder. This powder of course you can use for the Thandai milk but also used for different varieties of dessert and other dishes like rabri or also shrikhand.

It is made with Cashews, almonds, fennel seeds, and more. It is mainly used for flavor milk. Besides, that it is used for making Kulfi, mousse, cheesecake, and whatnot. It’s completely on how creative you are.

It is so easy and handy to make the Thandai powder at home. I prefer to make it at home so that I can balance the nuts according to my taste. If you don’t want it spicier you can take less quantity of peppercorns and likewise.

We all know it is made with different types of nuts like Cashews and Almond. If you are throwing a holi party this is a must. You can prepare the powder from before and store it in an airtight jar. It can stay good for around 12- 15 days.

Here I am sharing the recipe according to my taste

Ingredients :

1. Cashew Nuts-1 cup

2. Almonds-1 cup

3.Pepper corns- 8 – 9 whole

4.Fennel seeds- 1 1/2 Tbsp

5.Green Cardamom- 20 whole

6. Poppy seeds -1 1/2 tbsp(optional)

7. Saffron – according to your taste

8. Dry rose petals (must)- 2 Tbsp

9.Watermelon kernels (optional )

For Thandai powder

1.Take the grinder and blend all the spices very well.

2.Don’t blend it constantly, blend it with the breaks in between.

You can use the powder for many things .

To make Thandai

Thandai

1. Take a deep pan. Add 1 cup of milk (I prefer full-fat). Add sugar according to your taste. Let it boil once.

2. Add 1 spoon of thandai powder in the milk ,mix well and let it simmer.

Serve it warm or cold .
